help with a translation, Bukowski sentence (1 Viewer)

HI! I read a nice sentence from Bukowski but cannot find the English version.
Here is the sentence in Italian:
"Io sono il lungo ritorno a casa in macchina al buio, sotto la pioggia, io sono decenni e decenni di corse fatte e vinte e perse e corse di nuovo e io sono me stesso seduto con in mano un programma e le liste di partenza"

which could be translated: I am the long drive back home in the dark, in the rain, I am decades and decades of racing done and won and lost and ran again and I am myself sitting with a program and starting lists in hand.

thank you for helping me to find the original sentence :)

The lines you're looking for are in the poem called "The Condition Book" and they go like this:
I am the long drive home in the
dark, in the rain, I am decades and decades and decades
of races run and won and lost and run again and I am
myself sitting with a program and a Racing Form.
Just like cirerita posted while I've been doing the search.
