Nice to be aboard (1 Viewer)

Just got my first taste of Bukowski via the 2004 film and am knocked. Only knew about him from "Barfly" which, aside from the nifty title shots of joints, was so-so. Anybody recommend one or two novels, short stories or poems I can start on to get to know about this wonderful man? Thanks and nice to be in your company.

Welcome to the very best Buk site on the WWW, csovek¬¬¬

Post Office is a great one to start with. It's a novel, his first.
Ham on Rye is also quite good. It too is a novel.

Poetry: Burning in Water, Drowning in Flame
The Days Run Away Like Wild Horses Over The Hills
You Get So Alone At Times That It Just Makes Sense

Short stories: South of No North
Erections, Ejaculations...Tales of Ordinary Madness
Notes of a Dirty Old Man

Hope that helps and happy reading =!=

PS---Yea, Barfly blew chunks. Big mutherfucken time.

Much appreciate your recommendations. Already ordered Post Office, Women and Hollywood but it's the poems I'm really anxious to read and you gave me a good starting point.
