Obama Wins The Nobel Peace Prize (1 Viewer)

Remember that they do not refer to us as liberals anymore. They now call us leftists or socialists. Seems that Liberal, although damaging was not quite damaging enough.

Oh, I suppose you can put whatever colorful descriptive term you'd like in there...SATAN controls the media...the Bilderberg Group control the media...Osama bin Laden controls the media...

If you are going to blatantly deny the obvious, you may as well go for the gold. Or the gold painted plaster.

According to the website of The Nobel Prize Committee, the deadline for nominating any and all Peace Prize laureates is February 2. Obama had held office for less than two weeks at that point, which means most of this was based on campaign promises.

But then again, if it's the potential for peace and good intentions, etc., then the shoe fits, I guess.

Yes, that is the case. He was nominated on February 2, but not voted until later. It is still premature, but not as premature as Rush Limbaugh would have you believe. It was not decided that he would be the winner on 2/2/09.

Many, many people (people in and out of Governments) have the ability to nominate people for the Nobel. They can nominate anyone for any reason. I understand that the President of Iran was also nominated (although that is unofficial), so just because someone is nominated does not mean much. They do not announce the nomination that are not winners officially for 50 years.

Bill,

I agree that if Obama accomplishes one good thing, he's an improvement over the Bush/Cheney crime syndicate. If he fixes health care, I'd give him any award on the planet.

Obama/Osama. That's the first time I realize how these two names are similar. :D

I particularly appreciate the comments of some Republicans who consider this Nobel as a way for Europe to emasculate America.

That is because you don't get american right-wing hate radio over there. These people "accidentally" called him "Osama" all the time. There was even a polling place in a right wing area in Virginia that "accidentally" put his name as Osama on the ballot....

They (Rush, specifically and his followers) call him Bama. When I was in Elementary school, that was a very racial term that would get your ass kicked if you said it to a black guy. The term was "stupid bama", although it was pronounced like ala-bama, not "bomb-uh"

I believe true peace will exist when we eliminate all those (most of the world) that resists our democratic intentions of peace. Peace can only be found with more war.

And with less people it will be easier to get along.

I find that a bit bizarre since one of his campaign promises (which he's already come good on) was cross-border attacks into (or 'invasion of' if you like) Pakistan. So, he says he'll take the 'war on terror' into a new territory, then does it, then gets the Nobel Peace Prize. Not saying the action in Pakistan is justified or it isn't (I think it's probably a waste of time ultimately though) but he promised and delivered an escalation of a military campaign. I think that's what people are scratching their heads about.
