The All Night Menu interview with John Martin

Martin committed one sin and unfortunately it's the one that can't be forgiven in this case: Envy.

I don't think Christian Scientists have confession like Catholics do.

But shit, when you read an interview like this, it's hard not to respect the man-- even if you can't absolve him.

It's a very good and interesting interview.

I'm flabbergasted by the knowledge that such an extraordinary edifice like Richfield Oil Building had existed and had been torn down (less than 40 years after it had been erected). It's not my kind of country in which something like that is possible.

As for Martin, I'm surprised he liked boxing.

And I like the ocean turd episode.

Because of what I do, I occasionally reach out to him on obscure questions to answers that I think no one else would know.

And every damn time I reach out to him the bastard is so cordial and quick to respond that I feel like I have fucking Stockholm syndrome.

The guy is still 100% there and I begin to question whether I am.

That's my confession.

I didn't mean to indicate that his mind was faltering -- it isn't at all. If someone asked me what I did at my job 10 years ago I probably couldn't remember-- nevermind 50 or 60 years ago.
