The idea isn't as contrived or exploitative as a British TV show which put 'celebreties' on the streets to see how they would cope. Unfortunately, they all made it out alive to cry into the camera.
I don't know how much you'd get out of it though. If you work with the homeless then I'm sure you're aware of a lot of what they go through. I woke up drunk in a shop doorway once, which gave me enough perspective to know I'd never want to sleep on the streets.
