"What's the future of comics?" Welll... some people around here seem to have an idea or two.

we're a publisher, technically, although other publishers i've talked to give me the cold shoulder and don't take us seriously. that's fine, since i don't have the network or contacts to build an audience... i think of us more as bookmakers than publishers, at least with respect to comics, since most of the projects i come up with are based on taking work by artists i like and making a wildly elaborate, expensive book out of that artwork. when you're only making 10 of something, it's hard to call it "publishing."

so, this is kind of weird, but i just noticed that the sun in this kim deitch artwork...

has the same expression as Dan.

Maybe my choice of projects is guided by Dan behind the scenes, and all my ideas have really been his. I'm okay with that, btw.

in case anyone wanted one of these books, there's currently one hardcover copy left. there are also a few of the oversize deluxe editions that haven't been sold via preorder, but they're insanely expensive (i haven't set the price yet, but at least $600).

This is what the standard size (10" x 13") hardcover looks like. Bill printed the cover.

just finished the deluxe editions tonight. these are the kickstarter copies - there are three more, but i need to do a few other things before i get to finishing them. i'll have better photos soon.

let's just say i'm proud of these and leave it at that :)
