Ham On Rye - Buk's mysterious and talented writer friend... (1 Viewer)

Has anybody else come across an interesting character, in 'Ham in Rye', who Buk knew during his time in college and who was a very good writer? I had a feeling that he enlisted during the war but I'm not exactly certain?
 
I believe I saw the real name of that writer friend who died in WW II in some Buk bio, letter book, or article, but I forget the name and where i read it.
 
You remember correctly: it's Robert Baun in a poem Self-Inflicted Wounds from The Night Torn Mad with Footsteps (page 343).
Then again it's a posthumous collection, so...
