Linda King Book Release Party at Beat Museum (1 Viewer)

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick note to say that I went to Linda's reading and was sitting in front of the man who was snoring. It was not gentle snoring!

In any case, for me, it was a very dear opportunity to hear Linda read. After reading about her since 1976 (?), I was happy that we were both still alive and happy to have the chance to see her and listen to her. I sensed, from a woman's point of view, that Bukowski was still very much with her in terms of the love remaining in her heart.

Matt Sesow was also a pleasure to listen to and to see his art. The person who escorted me to this event purchased the original cover art piece from Linda's book. My favorite piece was the one on page 33 of her book.

Warm regards,
Amber

P.S. I was too shy to introduce myself to Linda. Anyway, it didn't seem the appropriate thing to do! Truthfully, I just loved her.

you're such a modest person. i see your point. very sensitive indeed.

Not modest, Roni....just shy, or as the old saying goes, "the piece o' shit around whom the world revolves!" Compared to Linda, I am really a featherweight:) She seemed to be really comfortable.

I agree (unsurprisingly) with esart. I have never been a fan of hearing poems read by the writer, and even less so by someone else (hello Harry Dean Stanton, Tom Waits and Bono, and fuck you very much for that).

To me, reading is meant to be done in your head, looking at the words on the paper. Hearing someone read makes me sleepy. Even when beer bottles are being thrown around the room.

black swan was watching (around 2 pm) the Vancouver reading today (for the first time.)
And yes...she fell asleep :D
