There's nothing for you to learn. It's music. You listen to it. With your ears. You don't watch it on YouTube, VH1, MTV or Sabado Gigante.
Then, when the songs are over, you either enjoyed listening to them or you didn't. It's not more complicated than that.
Why would you try to force yourself to appreciate something you don't like? Life is too short to waste your time like that.
I agree, I would say that what U can enjoy, can be complicated to infinity, it's your party, u can do what u want, that is the beauty of art.
This also shows a deeper truth, Billville: in asking the question to us you are not asking the right audience, the one that u should ask this question to is yourself, this is the essential difference between art and science, in science there are right and wrong answers, in art it is what u prefer, no one can take that away from you.
I love the beatles, but I never had to try to love the Beatles, first time I heard them I just loved them, I can feel the emotion, the times, the spirit, I love all the interesting lyrics, the outros etc. but why one loves that and why u might not... it's a deep question, some might say its just that brains have different chemical compositions, different genes, different taste in music, I don't think it's an important question because it puts the focus in the wrong place, what is the right place to focus on? Enjoying the music, sharing the music, playing the music together, experience it, don't analyze it.
