First, get your mind out of the gutter (I'm looking at you Purple Stickpin).

Helen Suzman has passed away this week. For years, she was virtually the only voice speaking out against South African apartheid in that country's government. This New York Times obituary pays tribute to her very nicely. I only wish I had half her courage in everyday life...

Sometimes the enemies that you make in life show more of your character than who you call friends.

Some of her enemies were truly despicable people.

Helen Suzman...

Wonderful. Thank You for the edification. What a wonderful woman. It will take time, but she will be remembered.
I am very out of the loop when it comes to politics, world or local; but a story like this is very important for all to here. Thanks again, #6horse.CRB:)

For the record, I want to say that I too was unaware of her until her passing.
I knew the "big" names like Mandela, Archbishop Tutu, etc., and the MTV crowd singing protest songs (Sun City), but didn't realize there was a consistent critic of that tyranny within S.A.'s parliament itself.

Bill - that's a dead-on accurate statement you made there. Thanks.
