He's got what he wants, which is attention. This type of net.kook doesn't care if that attention is positive or negative. Though they almost always prefer negative, as it reinforces their delusions of martyrdom. "Look at the way they hate me. Their hate is proof that I am great."

But like others we have seen - and more of the same that we will see in the future - when you actually look, there's nothing there. Trying to point that out or trying to reason with someone so wrapped up in their delusion is pointless. You can say 'black' all day long and all they will hear is 'white.'

Ananda Osel's many conversations with himself sprinkled across the web are initially an entertaining diversion, but ultimately boring. Just another schoolboy Quixote tilting at windmills.

Ambreen - In this case, some Google researching was required to expose the hoax. People who try to sneak their poetry onto the web under fake names deserve to be called out and mocked. It's part of keeping a forum like this as honest as reasonably possible.

Under other circumstances though, I agree with your strategy to either ignore or delete.

I like this place but if something disturbs me, I will express myself, no matter if I have you all against me. I'm not the kind of person who shuts up and follows, sorry. So I figure there are two Buddists and a Jew at college in Seattle, or wherever, getting high and lamenting that Courtney Love will never go down for killing Kurt.

Proletariat Press, publisher of his chapbooks, publishes only the good Mr. Osel, and another guy who is co-editor of his poetry web site, common-line.com (which was apparently run by Richard Wink for a few months at one point).

I edited the Commonline Project for a few months. It didn't really work out. But from my limited dealings with Ananda, well, he seemed like a nice enough chap.

OK... into the pool of poetic sharks I go. Since I am the man that Osel described as the Moron Narcissist that everybody made a big deal about I figured I'd weight in.

I only Googled Ananda because I've read some pretty disparaging comments / poems he has written about me in the past months and I wanted to see if there were any more recent insults.

Ananda is one guy, he does fight (or used to) and I really don't know why he portrays himself to be what he is not. In oppose to those of you who have been writing for sometime...Ananda is more of a poet "come lately."

Ironically enough, I believe his motivation for becoming a writer was good. While I am a far cry from a literary poet... I grew up in the harshest of enviornments and my "poems" are something that street-kids, hip-hop artists, and everyday Laymen could relate to I am more of a people's poet...than a poets poet.

I was already drug/ alchohol addicted when I met a wonderful young lady at 17 yrs old. I spend the next 9 yrs destroying her life and stripping her of her trust and self dignity. I was a terribly bad person to her and I have regretted it ever since. Ananda saved her from me, he made her feel loved and protected and even treated my son with care and compassion.

While I think he's out for attention, I truly believe that because of the (local) reputation I had for being a poet... Ananda really felt like he had to try to outdo me.

As I read these posts what started as a feeling of jubilee and vindication soon evaporated into a strange need to defend him... I know that he had a terribly abusive childhood (similar to mine) and yet he still knew how to treat a lady and a child that wasn't his.. that's got to count for something.

You can say whatever you want about his poetry, I'm not here to defend that. But keep in mind that you almost never know someones true motivation and what is being perceived here as "self serving motivation", is actually his way of proving his love to a woman left in pieces

Ananda Osel is a decent human being and a good role model. We don't even really like each other, but you all have taken it very very far.

There's a term in Ultimate Fighting called "tapping-out" it's when a fighter has had enough for one bout. I've seen enough...Mo Mas.

If you insert yourself into our world here, you get what you get. If you do more self promotion than writing, expect people to call "bullshit." If you lie about who you are, expect someone to counter with the truth.
