just started Lou Reed's 'New York'-Album, which means, at the moment I'm listening to 'Romeo had Juliette'.

"... It's hard to give a shit these days. Manhattan sinking like a rock into the filthy Hudson what a shock they wrote about it they said it was like ancient Rome..."

Last night I watched The devil's rejects, a Rob Zombie film. It ends with Free Bird.

I had it in my head all day long with the images of the three assholes' bloody ending :

A great musical background for a great ending.

great album, great lyrics to that song and others.

I'm listening to the voices in my head that say "Kill, kill, kill," and enjoying another bright sunny day.

About 10 years ago, I was very pissed off to see that GPP had released this, after I had searched for all of the 'Trane Vanguard CDs. These contain some of the very best shit, along with Dolphy just being insane. Now I own most of these tracks, but I have to shell out another $50 or so to get another 5-10 tracks that are amongst the best in jazz history.

No wonder the music business sucks ass.

Anyway, I have become captivated with this:

The Byrds' adaptation of John Riley.

An interesting case. And how many did you "kill, kill, kill" ?

Pixies - Debaser

My favourite song from my favourite Pixies album ;)

A dumb and dumber friend of mine has just sent me that silly but funny "song" :

Harmonizer- Saarbrücken's stonerrock psychedelic blues baby
check em out on myspazz

:)Rock Your Bones!:)

The studio version sucks because it was recorded by some hip hop kids ( first time, first mistake ) but Harmonizer is a young and fresh band...if you like
QUOTSA and 70's like Thin Lizzy,Black Uhuru, they might be your cup of tea.

the FALL, "Perverted by Language" album.

excellent choice.

I had a similar situation with an Ornette Coleman record that was a Japanese only vinyl release. I finally found it at a fairly steep price, but not as steep as I had seen it sell for and with obi strip still intact. a year or 2 later, Atlantic gives it a North America cd release at a "budget" price. heh.

o well. and I should mention the songs were on a box set that I already had, but to a record geek, that's not the point. ;)

I'm still working my way through this:

post toxic: as far as I know, no one in the band was gay. they changed their name from The Rejects to something they thought was more controversial.

I just saw in the local paper that they are playing in Philly next week...
Bill, I'll pick you up at 7. Philly is only an hour or so away from your place, right?

we'll need some drinks first, of course. I'll flip you for designated driver.

or are your kids old enough to drive? ;)

Probot proves Grohl to be much more pertinent than he hight seem by his many other (very good indeed) efforts.
You're right, my favourite Probot song is "Access Babylon" with Bubba Dupree
( Void ) on guitar and Mike Dean ( Corrosion of Conformity, Snakenation, Nine-
finger ) on bass/vocals. And I would like to add the first Scream record.

...thank you hoochmonkey9 :)

If you get to LA, look me up and I'll take you out. One condition - wear your red dress and gold high heels... oh, and that scarf I like so much,

Lighten up.

While doing my chores I had Tower of Power live in Philadelphia. Then Leo Kottke followed by some Al Green and finally The B-52s.

Oh yes !
Muse is the first rock band I have adulated. I'm now interested by other bands but Matt, Chris and Dom still have a special place in my heart.

My favourite song from Black holes and revelations is Take a bow but this one is also awesome ! It took me some time but I finally succeeded into appreciating this album, even Supermassive black hole (which I found horrible the first time I heard it).

Their next one is said to release in September.

I still can't take Supermassive Black Hole, unless I'm reading something and forget I'm listening. They have this weird Queen/Prince vibe mixed with hard rock and I love it.

Muse is a fine band, although I'm not familiar with their whole material.

I just listened to "Pornography" by The Cure - their last good album.
You can still find a few very good songs on the records afterwards, but most
sound like backgroundmusic in a shopping mall. They were so brilliant and unique
in celebrating an atmosphere of melancholy, I take my trip through "Seventeen Seconds" right now. Deep. How could Smith kick a drummer like Laurence Tolhurst out of the band? Minimal monotenous playing to the point and then the man played tribal drumming before the term was even going round. Was Robert "lost in a forest"? They should have put out an ep with "Shake Dog Shake", "The Empty World" and "Give Me It" in much longer versions and shove the rest of "The Top" up their asses.
And yes, "Friday, I'm in HATE".

...blablabla, I'm just disappointed about what has become of them...

ah well, it'll make for a busy and stinky spring.

Do you know the band Dogpile from Canada? I believe they can be found on myspace. Heavy Industrial/Metal mix. ;)

No, but I have a couple Skinny Puppy records in my collection. also from Canada, referencing dogs, and industrial. but no direct reference to dog turds.

ah well, we can't have everything.

just checked, I only have one Skinny Puppy record. I used to have two. I have to stop lending records to people. I never seem to get them back.

Yes, and ifyou get the records back, they've got scratches and coffee spills on the lyric sheet, like that. Someone even stole my Rich Kids On LSD single some time ago. Bastard.
